Refund steps

Check eligibility and documentsBring your original passport and confirm traveler, item and counter eligibility. Present any required visitor coupon or payment card before checkout.

Register at the shop that dayPay the tax-inclusive price and bring passport, goods, receipts and payment instrument to the designated counter on purchase day. Minimum eligible pre-tax spend is JPY5,000 per store/day.

Obtain export confirmation before refundPurchases from 1 November 2026 use the refund method. Export within 90 days and obtain customs confirmation before checking luggage; the registered method then receives the refund less applicable fees.

Practical tips
- Present a passport for the Shopper’s Card: 5% off eligible purchases of at least JPY3,000 before tax. Watches, jewellery and luxury brands are excluded. Adjacent shopping-centre tenants are not automatically included; confirm the exact shop and item.
- Pay gross and register on the purchase date; refund follows customs export confirmation within 90 days. System fee: 23% of the consumption-tax component, reduced to 21% when the pre-tax total reaches JPY1 million. This is not a 23% fee on the goods price. Card/FX charges may also apply.
- No universal cash rebate has been verified. Visitor discounts, tax refunds and cash rebates are separate; an unknown rebate is not a confirmed 0% or a promise.
